The International Sailing Federation (ISAF), the official governing body for the sport of sailing, has been organizing the Youth Sailing World Championship since 1971. The 2013 edition takes place in Cyprus, where the top youth talent is going to participate for the title of the Youth World Champion.
The ISAF Youth World Championship is an event that has highlighted many current sailing stars. Past champions include America's Cup skippers (Chris Dickson Russell Coutts, Dean Barker), Volvo Ocean Race sailors (Stuart Bannatyne, Richard Clarke) and many Olympic medallists (Robert Scheidt, Ben Ainslie, Alessandra Sensini, Nick Rogers, Elise Rechichi, Iain Percy).
